“I strongly recommend Viking as experienced and trustworthy boat builders. They have built a Viking 215 for me and, more recently, an inboard version of the Viking 275.  I have been very pleased with the build quality of both boats. Importantly, they have been good at coming out to rapidly fix the minor snagging issues which can occur with most new boats."

“My wife and l started boating about 8 years ago and the first boat we purchased was a Viking 24 that we were more than pleased with,it was a great starter boat and we enjoyed it for 3 years, but then we decided we needed something bigger and better so we discussed with Viking to build one to our specifications which was a seamaster 28, we have had this boat for 5 years and we enjoy every minute, we would recommend anyone looking for a reasonable priced boat with a good quality and high spec, to look no further. We have always had very good service and they have been very helpful. Thank you to all the staff at Viking.”

“We had always wanted a boat but never got any further than thinking about, the years were just slipping by so my wife and I decided to start looking seriously or it just wasn’t going to happen. We decided to look at widebeam river cruisers made in grp to minimise maintenance. We started looking at second hand boats but were a bit disappointed at what we were seeing and then we found a Viking 24 which was great but we wanted some extras fitted to it so we got in contact with Viking to see if was possible. I spoke to Vinny who was very helpful and it soon came obvious that by the time I had bought the boat and paid for the extras to be fitted I would be approaching the price of a new boat. So I sat down with Vinny and told him what I wanted on the boat and he made some good suggestions so between the two of us the boat that had been a dream became real. Construction of Catherine Sarem started in January 2012 and it was great visiting the factory seeing her being built and in March she was delivered. The after sales service from Viking was great being able to talk directly to Vinny and Wayne and not through a third party made getting any snags sorted straightforward. Catherine Sarem did many day trips and several long ones including all the way to Lechlade on the Thames, the Tidal Thames past all the sites, the canals through London and a coastal trip out of the Thames estuary. Catherine Sarem was a fantastic boat and many great times were had but my life circumstances changed and the grand children came along so I decided to get a bigger boat. I went to the London Boat Show in 2016 to look at new Viking 295 and knew straight away this is what I wanted (with few differences compared to the show boat) but decided to keep the Viking 24 for the upcoming season. September came and Vinny organised a trip out on a Viking Seamaster 28 (the model before the 295) it was a great boat, so after a chat discussing the configuration of the boat I signed on the dotted line. Construction of Catherine Sarem II started in January and she was ready for the 2017 boating season and she has already done a great cruise from the River Lea to the East Coast and the whole of the Thames, so she had a proper shake down cruise. I have bought two boats from Viking so I can’t give a better recommendation than that.

“When we decided to buy a boat when we retired, we did a lot research and reading up. of reading up on what was available and what would suit us.  A number of factors drove our decision- making. Firstly, we opted to go for a new boat rather than second hand, this was because I am useless at any DIY didn’t want the hassle of any restoration projects or to have to regularly look after and service a narrow boat.  We therefore chose to go for a GRP boat with an outboard motor as it would require minimal maintenance and an outboard was easily accessible for servicing and repairs. We also wanted a wet-room, shore power, fridge and cooker, to be able to sleep 2-4 people overnight and to have a rear cockpit for socialising.  a number of manufacturers could meet our needs but after a lot of consideration we decided that a Viking 215 met all of our requirements and had the added bonus of a step at the back allowing easy access through a doorway into the cockpit area, thus avoiding the need to climb in through the side windows.  Viking agreed a good price and a good spec and their agents put together a nice package of many of the little things you need when you buy a boat such as boat hooks, fenders, ropes, life ring, fire extinguishers and so on. I was still reading up and learning about boating though and had to go back to Viking more than once to ask for additional items or changes of spec.   Viking were friendly and helpful throughout and kept to the planned lead time of 13 weeks whilst also accommodating my changes and letting me visit the factory in order to see my new love being built and taking shape. When the great day arrived the White Hart turned up at the marina on a trailer all ready to be launched.  The chap who brought it was very helpful as he attached the fenders for me (told you I am useless myself) and ran through all the things I needed to know like how to start the engine, the hot water system, the gas cylinder, shore-power, etc. He also lowered the boat into the water and took us for a very short trip before leaving us to it. In the days that followed we had great fun as we started to put our own stamp on the boat by buying all the little things that personalise it and make it ours."
